WalkAide® System

RETURN TO PREVIOUS PAGE

The WalkAide is a battery-powered, easy-to-use device that helps people with drop foot to walk more easily.

As the most experienced WalkAide providers in the region, CarePartners certified clinicians are here to help you regain your independence.

A Discreet, State-of-the-art Alternative to Bracing

With WalkAide, many patients with drop foot are able to improve their ability to lift their feet while discontinuing the use of traditional ankle-foot orthoses (AFOs), or braces.

The WalkAide system is a small functional electrical stimulation (FES) device that you wear around your leg below the knee. It is non-invasive, requires no surgery and can be worn underneath your clothing. The system works by analyzing your movement and using electrodes to stimulate the nerves in your leg when you take a step, helping your muscles to lift your foot at the appropriate time.

What is Drop Foot?

Drop foot is a general term for paralysis or weakness in the muscles that lift the front part of the foot, which causes a person to drag his or her foot, or walk with a high step, sometimes called “steppage gait.” People living with multiple sclerosis (MS), cerebral palsy (CP), brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, or other neurological conditions can be affected by drop foot.
