Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE)

FCE is designed to determine an individual's ability to safely perform the physical demands of work. It is an essential evaluation tool for determining readiness to return to work after injury or in making disability determinations. It provides the most objective, consistent and accurate testing to determine RTW (Return to Work). The scope of testing is comprehensive, occupation-specific and job-specific.

The CarePartners Industrial Team employs three qualified people who can perform FCE to ensure that you can schedule an evaluation in a timely manner, with same-day reporting of your results.

ErgoScience FCE System

CarePartners chose the ErgoScience FCE System for the reliability and validity research that supports the test. The test provides a scoring system for determining an accurate level of work and projecting patient abilities out to an 8-hour day. Recommendations are given IF requested by the referral source.

Who can refer? Physicians, insurance carriers, employers, case managers, vocational rehabilitation counselors, attorneys.

What is required?

  1. Referral from MD for FCE (client must be physically capable to participate in a 4-hour physical test).
  2. List of all current medications and their dosage.
  3. Client should wear comfortable clothes that can move in a variety of positions.
  4. Client's blood pressure during testing cannot exceed 150/100; resting heart rate cannot exceed 100 beats per minute.
  5. Referral source must identify if client is to be tested against job description, occupational DOT specific, or comprehensive/any occupation specific.
